Cooking Demo with Panasonic and omy.sg

It was a great weekends with a companion event of Free Cooking Demo from omy.sg
Learning how to make what you crave of KAYA, Tasty BREAD, and few number of dishes
just with simple Panasonic Bread Maker, and  Microwave Oven.

Didn't know that with just a simple electricity machine of Bread Maker - Automatic Dispenser and
Microwave Oven, we can settle number of dishes in a short convenience way without further hassle.
It is Great to know that Panasonic Cooking - Opens up Possibilities, in the meaning of
it really help and save you a lot in your kitchen. In another words, we don''t need cooking pans
and save our time to clean the oily kitchen and wash those pans.



Let me introduce Bread Baker which it can be used for making delicious Kaya as well.
To have a nice taste of Kaya and Bread, both have to be a great companion.
Without Bread, will you eat Kaya together with others food ?? If yes, !! Fine, it sounds weird
But i guess, the best choice is still a bread




Other than its bread maker automatically mixes, kneads, rises for you to have your bakes
bread without a need to use up your hands energy, it also has a side advantage
point of having a layer for Raisin and Nut Dispenser.

Simple just drops your favorite raisin, dried fruits, nuts and seeds into the Dispenser for
your hand made convenience and better favorite bread texture

Additional thing to note : you can set the crust color to light or standard !:)

The Bread Maker not only just for Kaya Making, Bread but also can be used for making 
Pizza Dough, Dumpling Skin Dough, Desserts like Chocolate and Cake

In any of the Baking, definitely we need a hand blender to whisk all the ingredients.
Below squared picture with a green line  is a automatic whisk mixture - Panasonic hand blender
MX-SS1 that will auto blend those mixed ingredients into a desired texture.

What great about this hand blender :
It really save us more time and faster on whisking the mixtures unlike a manual hand mixer that
we need to keep mixing and kneading until ingredients are dissolve.
I remember last time i used to use the tradition hand blender to mix all the ingredients,
mix till my hand was very tired because we need to keep kneading on it.




Hand-made Delicious Kaya

Ingredients : 
6 Eggs
220 g Sugar
250 ml Thick Coconut Milk ( extracted from 1 freshly grated coconut )
10 Pandan leaves ( chopped finesly with 3 tbsp water )
2 tsp Potato starch ( add 2 tsp water )
1/8 tsp Pandan essence

Method : 
1. Place egg, sugar, coconut milk, 3 tbsp pandan juice and essence in a mixing bowl
2. Whisk Mixture with hands whisk about 5 mins, till sugar dissolves.
3. Strain mixture into bread pan
4. Set bread maker to cake mode #12. Display shows 12 mins
5, After 12 mins, stir mixture with spatula, next press start to continue baking.
6. Stir between baking time. ( You will hear the sound after 12 mins. So, it the sign that you need to stir )
7. Last 1-2 mons of baking time, stir in potato starch mixture
8. Pour out mixture into a mixing bowl, use hand blender to blend till mixture is smooth
9. Let the kaya jam cool down, transfer the kaya into container
10. Keep refrigerated.

Total Time of Kaya Making : 1 and half an hour

Beginning part while strain mixture into bread pan ( method 3 )



Let's peep on the Kaya maker after a few minutes ( Before 12 mins ).
Here is the looks when you open the bread maker. Mixing of mixture is still on going.




Time to stir mixture with spatula ( method 5 )
As mentioned on above method, we have to stir between baking time to keep all the 
mixture dissolve well. The 12 mins sounds will wake you up to stir. 



YAY !! It is going to be a well served Kaya Soon.
Refer to Method 8 ( Using hand blender to blend till mixture is smooth )



Love the tasty Kaya ! A savoury and hand made kaya that can stand up with Kaya that selling at outside.
The Kaya mixture is really smooth enough and it smells good



Crispy Fluffy Hand Made Wheat Raisin Bread

Ingredients : 
75 g Whole wheat flour
175 g Bread flour
10 g Butter
2 tsbp Castor sugar
1 tbsp Milk Powder
1 tsp salt
200 ml Cold water
1 tsp Instant Year

Method :
1.   Place above ingredients ( except Yeast ) in the bread pan
2.   Place yeast into the yeast dispenser
3.   Select menu no.2 for “Rapid” mode , next press start
4.    Once ready, remove bread from pan, leave to cool before cutting

Baking time : 2 hours using “ Rapid mode

Here is the looks while the bread is in the midst of kneading.
We just need to wait the beep sound to take out the ready serve crispy bread.




Light Crust Color Bread is ready to serve ! :) It looks so cute but too bad, it was not soft enough.
For Baker lover, it is a great considerable option to have a Bread Maker at home too.




Herbal Emperor Chicken

Ingredients : 
2 Chicken legs ( 500g, dried with kitchen towel, pierced with fork )
600 m Hot Water
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Sugar
¼ tsp Dark Soya Sauce
¼ tsp Light Soya Sauce
2 tbsp Cooking Wine / Ha Diao Jiu / Brandy
Spices ( comes with herbs )
1 pkt Chinese herbs ( Dang Gui, Ginseng, Wolfberries, Tangerine peel, Dried Longan , 
Pepper seeds, Chin Kong, Kam Chor )

Preparation :
1.    Season chicken with spices OR salt, sugar, and soy sauce. Rest for 1 hour
2.    Soak Chinese herbs in 600 ml of hot water for 1 hour

Method :
1.    Cook Chinese herbs in water using Microwave oven on high power for minutes
2.    Place chicken in aluminium foil, top with herbs, pour in remaining water, wrap in foil
3.    Place wrapped chicken in microwave oven , using steam mode and cook for 1 - 1.5 hours
4.     Serve with brandy or wine

Note : While using the Microwave Oven, we need to fill water at the water dispenser.
When the water is going to finish, the Microwave Oven will show a sign of Refill Water 
Needed. If the water is not filled, it will just stop there and wait till the water be refilled




Let's move to another cooking style by using Microwave Oven.

Microwave Oven Worth to Have :
Its definitely a great Multi Function Microwave Oven that should think of to have 1 at home because
it is not only just a simple Microwave we used to heat food, but also can use to steam food like above Steamed Herbal Chicken, cook raw food and rice, grill, roast, and baking.
It cover all your kitchen needs. All in 1 -> Steaming, Grilling, Baking, Cooking.

Let me makes clear the difference between Microwave, Oven, and Microwave Oven :
Normal microwave can't be used for baking. It may can only use for certain function and not even
for grilling. While Oven is of course for baking. Whereas Microwave Oven is can used for all - All in 1.





Yam and Pumpkin Kueh ( “23cm / 9” cake tin required )

Ingredients :
220 g Yam (cubed)
40 g Dried Shrimps ( soaked drained )
1 Chinese chicken sausage ( soaked, cubed )
2 Dried Mushrooma ( soaked, cubed)
Mix Together :  ( 100 g Rice Flour, 30 g   Tapioca Flour, 550 ml Water )

Garnishing : 
1 stalk spring onion (diced )
1 red chili ( diced )
Some roasted sesame seeds

Sauce :
1 ½ tbsp Light sauce
1/3 tsp salt
¼ tsp 5 Spice powder
1 tsp Sugar
¼ tsp Pepper
½ tsp Sesame oil

Method :
1.   Cook shallot with 4 tbsp oil on High power for about 4-5 mins, uncovered ( stir in between, leave aside )
2.   Cook dried prawn on High Power for 1 ½ mins, add 1 tsp shallot oil, cook for 1 mins
( Purpose adding oil is to not dry out the prawn while cooking in Microwave )
3.   Add Chinese sausage, cook for 40 secs .  Leave aside
( in a meantime to remove the oil as well by using the Microwave ).
4.   Cook yam and pumpkin with 2 tbsp water on High for 6 mins, covered
5.   Add flour mixture, sausage, mushroom, dried prawn and sauce, cook on High power for 4 mins ( covered )
6.  Pour mixture into a 23 cm cake tin, set to steam mode in a microwave oven for 30 mins
7.   When ready, serve with golden brown shallot, sesame seeds, spring onion and chili

I was quite surprised with the result of cooking Shallot using Microwave.
From Raw shallot into a well cooked Shallot
As mentioned above, the Microwave Oven can be used for cooking. It such a convenience way.



Aside Shallot, here is the well cooked Dried Prawns using the Microwave Oven.
The microwave Oven is really amazing ! All can be done in a short time and easy way



YAY !!! Yam and Pumpkin Kueh is ready to serve.

Don't look down on the Yam and Pumpkin Kueh.
Though in the picture doesn't look good, but the taste was great ! Appetizing ! 
All in 1 Microwave Oven really can cook out a delicious food. 
Time to left out our pans, steamed tools, and gas at the side 




Steam Tapioca in Steam Microwave Oven

Ingredients :
½ kg granted tapioca
120 g white grated coconut
150 g soft brown sugar
120 ml coconut miulk
1 tbsp potato starch
150 ml water
1/8 tsp salt
23 cm square cake tin
Some pandan leave ( cut into 2”length ) : to bring a good smell for its tapioca

For serving :
250 g white grated coconut
( add ¼ tsp salt, steam with pandan leaves for 10 mins )

Method :
1.   Place above ingredients except pandan leaves in a mixing bowl
2.   Blend ingredients with hand blender for about 1 mins
3. Pour ingredients into cake tin, top with pandan leaves
4.   Set to steam mode for 30 mins
5.   When ready, serve with grated coconut

Refreshing food was prepared at outside for us at the end of event
 Hungry stomach after saw all the delicious demo cooking food especially the hand made
KAYA part ! the smell was damn nice.
